[Fe(CO)5] + I2 → [Fe(CO)4I2] + CO


Pentacarbonyliron react with iodine to produce cis-diiodotetracarbonyliron(II) and carbon monoxide. This reaction takes place at a temperature near 0°C in the medium of ester [8] (of hexane [17]).
