Hexacarbonylchromium react with sodium

[Cr(CO)6] + 2Na → Na2[Cr(CO)5] + CO


Hexacarbonylchromium react with sodium to produce pentacarbonylchromate(III) sodium and carbon monoxide. This reaction takes place at a temperature near -40°C in the liquid ammonia.
