2[Cr(CO)6] + 4N2O5 → 2Cr(NO3)3 + 12CO + 2NO




Hexacarbonylchromium react with dinitrogen pentoxide to produce chromium(III) nitrate, carbon monoxide and nitric oxide. The reaction is conducted in a liquid tetrachloromethane.
