Iron react with sodium hydroxide and water

Fe + 2NaOH + 2H2O → Na2[Fe(OH)4] + H2




Iron react with sodium hydroxide and water to produce tetrahydroxoferrate(II) sodium and hydrogen. The reaction takes place in a boiling solution solution in a nitrogen atmosphere.
