HfCl4 + 4N2O5 → Hf(NO3)4 + NO2Cl




Hafnium(IV) chloride react with dinitrogen pentoxide to produce nitrate hafnium(IV) and nitryl chloride. The reaction proceeds at room temperature in the liquid tetrachloromethane.
