Mercury react with sulfuric acid

Hg + 2H2SO4 → HgSO4 + SO2 + H2O


Mercury react with sulfuric acid to produce mercury(II) sulfate, sulfur dioxide and water. The reaction takes place in a boiling solution, in the presence of nitric acid.
