2Hg + HgCl2 + 2AlCl3 → Hg3[AlCl4]2




Mercury react with mercury(II) chloride and aluminum chloride to produce trimercury(2+) tetrachloridoaluminate(III). This reaction takes place at a temperature of 195-240°C.
