Iodine trichloride react with nitric acid

I2Cl6 + 6HNO3 → 2I(NO3)3 + 6HCl




Iodine trichloride react with nitric acid to produce nitrate iodine(III) and hydrogen chloride. This reaction takes place at a temperature near -78°C in the liquid fluorotrichloromethane.
