Potassium permanganate react with ethanol

2KMnO4 + 3C2H5OH → 2MnO2 + 3CH3CHO + 2KOH + 2H2O




Potassium permanganate react with ethanol to produce manganese(IV) oxide, acetaldehyde, potassium hydroxide and water. This reaction takes place at a temperature of 20-30°C.
