Platinum react with iodine

2Pt + 3I2 → Pt2I6


Platinum react with iodine to produce platinum(II,IV) iodide. This reaction takes place at a temperature near 150°C and an overpressure. In this reaction, the catalyst is can be water and potassium iodide.
