H2[PtCl6]•6H2O → PtCl4 + 2HCl + 6H2O


The thermal decomposition of hexahydrate hydrogen hexachloridoplatinate(IV) to produce platinum(IV) chloride, hydrogen chloride and water. This reaction takes place at a temperature of 275-300°C in a flow chlorine.
