K2[PtCl6] + 4KI → PtI2 + 6KCl + I2


Potassium hexachloridoplatinate(IV) react with potassium iodide to produce platinum(II) iodide, potassium chloride and iodine. This reaction takes place at a temperature near 240°C, and an overpressure.
