2ZrI4 + 6N2O4 → 2ZrO(NO3)2 + 8NO + 4I2 + O2


Zirconium(IV) iodide react with dinitrogen tetroxide to produce zirconium(IV) dinitrate-oxide, nitric oxide, iodine and oxygen. The reaction proceeds at room temperature, in the liquid tetrachloromethane.
