Re + 3SO2Cl2 → ReOCl4 + 2SO2 + SOCl2


Rhenium react with sulfur(VI) dichloride-dioxide to produce rhenium(VI) tetrachloride-oxide, sulfur dioxide and chloride thionyl. This reaction takes place at a temperature of 300-380°C.
