3Se + SeO2 + 4HCl → 2Se2Cl2 + 2H2O


Selenium react with selenium(IV) oxide and hydrogen chloride to produce selenium monochloride and water. This reaction takes place at a temperature near 50°C in the concentrated solution sulfuric acid.
