Silicon(IV) fluoride react with ethanol

3SiF4 + 4C2H5OH → Si(C2H5O)4 + 2H2[SiF6]


Silicon(IV) fluoride react with ethanol to produce ethoxide silicon(IV) and hydrogen hexafluorosilicate(IV). In this reaction, the catalyst is can be aluminum ethoxide.
