2Hg + 2H2SO4 → Hg2SO4 + SO2 + 2H2O


Mercury react with sulfuric acid to produce mercury(I) sulfate, sulfur dioxide and water. Sulfuric acid - concentrated, heated solution. Impurities: mercury(II) sulfate.
