Hydrogen tetrachloridoaurate(III) react with sulfur dioxide and water

H[AuCl4] + SO2 + 2H2O → H[AuCl2] + H2SO4 + 2HCl


Hydrogen tetrachloridoaurate(III) react with sulfur dioxide and water to produce dichloridoaurate(I) hydrogen, sulfuric acid and hydrogen chloride. This reaction takes place at a temperature near 0°C.
