Iron react with sulfur dioxide

2Fe + 3SO2 → FeSO3 + FeS2O3


Iron react with sulfur dioxide to produce iron(II) sulfite and tioiron(II) sulfate. Sulfur dioxide is wet. The reaction slowly proceeds at room temperature.
