2[Fe(CO)5] + 4H2O → 2FeO(OH) + 3H2 + 10CO


Pentacarbonyliron react with water to produce iron(III) oxide-hydroxide, hydrogen and carbon monoxide. The reaction takes place in a boiling solution.
