Pentacarbonyliron react with sodium hydroxide

[Fe(CO)5] + 3NaOH → Na[Fe(CO)4H] + Na2CO3 + H2O

Pentacarbonyliron react with sodium hydroxide to produce hydroxotetracarbonylferrate(0) sodium sodium carbonate and water. The reaction proceeds at room temperature in the ethanol.
