[Fe(CO)5] + Na2[Fe(CO)4] → Na2[Fe2(CO)8] + CO


Pentacarbonyliron react with tetracarbonylsodium ferrate to produce oktacarbonyldisodium ferrate and carbon monoxide. This reaction takes place at a temperature near 30°C in the pentane.
