Fe2O3•nH2O + Fe(OH)2 → Fe3O4 + (n+1)H2O


Iron(III) oxide polyhydrate react with iron(II) hydroxide to produce iron(II,III) oxide and water. This reaction takes place at a temperature of 600-1000°C.
