Hafnium(IV) oxide react with carbon

HfO2 + 3C → HfC + 2CO

Hafnium(IV) oxide react with carbon to produce hafnium(IV) carbide and carbon monoxide. This reaction takes place at a temperature of 1800-2000°C.
