2HgCl2 + (NH4)2C2O4 → 2NH4Cl + Hg2Cl2 + 2CO2


Mercury(II) chloride react with sodium oxalate to produce ammonium chloride, mercury(I) chloride and carbon dioxide. This reaction takes place initiated by the absorption of energy in the form of light.
