Iridium react with chlorine

2Ir + 3Cl2 → 2IrCl3

Iridium react with chlorine to produce iridium(III) chloride. This reaction takes place at a temperature of 600-620°C, initiated by the absorption of energy in the form of light and in the presence of carbon dioxide.
