Iridium(IV) oxide react with chlorine

2IrO2 + 3Cl2 → 2IrCl3 + 2O2

Iridium(IV) oxide react with chlorine to produce iridium(III) chloride and oxygen. This reaction takes place at a temperature near 240°C initiated by the absorption of energy in the form of light.
