Magnesium chloride react with oxygen

3MgCl2 + O2 → MgO + Mg2OCl2 + 2Cl2


Magnesium chloride react with oxygen to produce magnesium oxide, dimagnesium oxide-chloride and chlorine. This reaction takes place at a temperature near 300°C.
