CH3ONa + C2H5NO2 + N2H4•H2O → NaN3 + CH3OH + C2H5OH + 2H2O


Sodium methoxide react with nitroethane and hydrazine hydrate to produce sodium azide, metanola, ethanol and water. The reaction takes place in a boiling solution.
