Na2Cr2O7 + 3HCHO + 8HCl → 2CrCl3 + 2NaCl + 3HCOOH + 4H2O


Sodium dichromate react with formaldehyde and hydrogen chloride to produce chromium(III) chloride, sodium chloride, formic acid and water. Hydrogen chloride - diluted solution. The reaction slowly takes place in a boiling solution.
